Say you want a revolution ?

Well, you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world

I think everyone knows I dislike the current FA structures. I don't like the pace, I don't like the anti climax every season - due to the way the league result is usually determined by waiting for AI against an inactive team or some such. I don't like how I have nothing to do most of the time unless I want to play some friendlies ? So what to do ?

The Super FA is the answer.

Step 1 - Delete the Weekly Cup. It doesn't work. The AI dates mean that you often tend to get double AI awarded so one team plays without the other having chance to play. I have nothing against AI whatsoever, but you have to at least have chance to play the game.

Step 2 - Actually just delete everything except the reputation cups because these run over the entire season so the AI dates land better and give the lower rep teams chance to win something.

Step 3 - New competitions!

FML is not an MMO - Why not ? It's Fantasty Football because there is nothing to do most of the time. You pick your team, tactics, then play a few games. This is not the way. I want to have a situation whereby I always have the opportunity to do something, have the chance to win something and play for something. 1.3 AI teams are step forward but are not currently enough. So what can we do within the current structure ? The FAs are governed by fairly strict rules so lets trial things in the Super FA.

I want the following:

The Weekly league - (possibly the 10 day league, so it just runs twice, unsure at the moment) This would first of all be tiered according to reputation. The number of tiers would depend on interest. So lets say we run 2-3 tiers - This means that every 7-10 days a season would complete and restart thus giving you chance to go for a title 2-3 times in a season against a comparable level of opposition. Even if you end up waiting for AI, it's a quick hit!

The Weekend League - Runs from Friday evening until Sunday night. Again tiering would depend entirely on numbers. This would be a quick hit for the weekend managers. This would probably run with smaller numbers - maybe 12 or so per division to give you chance to get the games in.

Quickplays! The most fun I have on FML these days is when I run my weekend quickplays. I tend to run 5-6 teams who play twice and they last around 2-3 hours. I sometimes run a couple of these each day and it's a quick hit but I really enjoy playing them and it's live games. It would be much cooler if there was a Super FA title at steak. Maybe a nightly quickplay ? One on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and or evening ?

Cups Ok So I don't like the weekly cups because they don't really work. While i'm all for tiering I think occasionally the big boys should pay a visit to the little guy. So we have a season long competition. The first stage would be some kind of qualifying competition - perhaps a big league, teams play once, neutral venue. Then it's time to mix things up - Top 10 get split off into their own competition, next 10 their own comp and bottom 10 their own competition - then they play to decide the winner of each cup, gold league, silver league, bronze league etc. Again this means that they got chance to mix it up with the big boys, but then in the same competition they now have chance to still win a title against similar level opposition. (it would be totally pointless to throw games in this instance)
.

Ok I need to go to bed now, i'll finish this tomorrow!

  1. Great - more ideas posted in the wrong place.

If you ever bothered yourself to send these in game we'd be able to discuss them and consider implementing them. Instead you make negative posts on the forum to try and put off new people from signing up to your gameworld, and keep some positive, constructive and good ideas to yourself over here...

    Aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!! :D

  2. Not sure what the issue is here, it's just a follow on from a forum post I made about deleting all of the FAs and replacing them with something different. It's just some general thoughts about how I think the Super FA should work and not a GW specific thing. I'm not sure what it matters where ideas are posted.

I can't imagine an email asking for all of the FAs to be deleted would have been considered. Plus much of this has already been discussed with the Super FA Org before the previous season.

  3. I think for future reference, if I happen to speak to any of the orgs again, I shall screenshot and log the conversations and CC them to the mod list.

I asked about the Super FA and was told to go speak to the Org. So I did and there was an hour+ discussion about it which involved several members of the GW. I wasn't aware I was then supposed to do something else to make it official. Do you not communicate with each each other ?

I have travelled round various GWs with other accounts to see where the wind blows and St John is by far the worse. We are possibly the only GW where people are so inept they can't even manage to run a quiz properly.

It's a shining example of how not to run an online community. The GW has done well and prospered because of the people in it and their love for the game, nothing else. I could name literally dozens of things in the catalogue of failures from the mod/org team.

We have stumbled across one good thing in 8 months, which is the NUFA but they say even a bunch of chimps could write Shakespear given enough time.

There's still a few people in the GW who could manage to organise something decent, please get them in and get rid of the rest.
